Blawhorn Moss NNR
Scottish Natural Heritage’s Chief Executive Francesca Osowska has taken on the challenge of cycling around all of SNH’s 35 offices and some of their National Nature Reserves to meet as many of the SDNH staff as possible and highlight the work that SNH does across Scotland. You can find out more here.
Blawhorn Moss was one of the first places that she visited, dropping in at lunchtime on Tuesday. It is the first time anyone from senior management in SNH has visited Blawhorn for a very long time so it gave us a chance to show her the joys of Blawhorn when she had lunch with Amee and myself and 3 of our volunteers, Stewart, John and David. We were also joined by other SNH staff, Billy Craig, our excellent voluntary warden and Ally Graham from Beechbrae who we work with at Blackridge primary school. The weather was helpful and fueled by coffee, flapjacks and banana bread, we had an excellent discussion about how important Blawhorn is to the local community and how the work we are doing there is enabling more people to enjoy the bog. Hopefully this will help to put Blawhorn on the map!
