Osprey action

Loch Lomond NNR

The ospreys are back in town at Loch Lomond and seem to be back in good numbers.

A new pair has been muscling in and making a nest in amongst some of the long-term residents and so there is a bit of a stooshie going on. It is early days so we will just have to see how it settles down.

But it does mean that the south end of Loch Lomond is a good place to see ospreys on the wing. If you are down that way keep an eye overhead for the spectacular black and white birds of prey. Two of the best places to keep an eye out are both parts of the Loch Lomond NNR :

The RSPB Loch Lomond reserve – details here  on how to visit and

The island of Inchcailloch by Balmaha – details here on how to visit.

In the meantime our Flanders birds are back and Ralph, our osprey-eyed volunteer, will be keeping us up to date with their goings-on through the season. More on that next week.
