Good place for a leg stretcher.

Blawhorn Moss NNR

Blawhorn Moss is one of lesser known National Nature Reserves, and I was surprised at a recent NNR Reserve Managers get together that only a very small number of them had actually visited the site. So why not discovered it yourself before they get there?

If you live in West Lothian or Edinburgh or anywhere in the central belt, and over the Christmas break you want a shortish walk that will take you to a bit of wildness, away from all of the bustle of the festive season, then Blawhorn is on your doorstep.

The wide open spaces, the peace and quiet, the tapestry of soft bog vegetation, the wind in your face will all be an antidote to the holiday stresses. A bit of exercise that gets the heart pumping, stretching the legs and blowing the tubes through can only be a good thing.

More information on how to visit Blawhorn here. For the more adventurous you can use the cycle network to get there or take a train to Blackridge and extend the day by walking up to the reserve.
