What a difference a year makes

Life is all about contrasts. And as lots of people have been pointing out, the weather is giving us a bit of one at the moment. This time last year we were deep in the beast from the East. The road to Flanders only became passable 2 days after the snowfall and even then a 4WD was handy.

This year the same road is basking in warmth and sun. See the contrasting photos below.

These variations of weather don’t prove a changing climate but are unsettling all the same. Scientists predicting changes in climate say that it isn’t just a general warming up but greater variations and extremes in weather patterns and events. And seeing these contrasts you can see how difficult it is for wildlife to have to deal with these.
