A bit of sunshine

Blawhorn Moss NNR

Sunshine. Fantastic. I felt a bit like a plant yesterday at Blawhorn, catching the rays to photosynthesise. We have seen so little sun recently. It was still bitterly cold with a dusting of snow hanging around and a lazy wind but I was happy to deal with that in return for the sun.

There was a less savoury side to the visit as well. I had to pick up a truck full of fly-tipping and car park rubbish, but let’s focus on the positive – sunshine, a fine carpet of sphagnum, dams holding water and a jack snipe taking advantage of the wet bits. Blawhorn is a lovely bit of wild not far from the motorway network and Edinburgh. Have you found it yet?
