The Lord of the Bogs

Today is international Tolkien Day (honestly someone told me; I haven’t had it marked in my calendar)! As Ceris and Bethia were unable to get through a single day of site work without at least one Lord of the Rings quote, in a flight of whimsy, we decided to honour Tolkien day with some boggy references

The road goes ever on
“The road goes ever on; and on and on”.
“Not all who wander are lost”
“Is it a cloud? If it is; it’s flying fast and not with the wind”
The Lonely Mountain
Okay Dokay: Moria it is then.
“Do you think he knows about second breakfasts?”
“Seek for the saw that is broken”
“The beacons are lit”
“Deep is the abyss spanned by Durin’s bridge”
“Orcs have been here”
Merry and Pippin

In the land of Flanders where the mosses lie.

One Bog to rule them all, One bog to find them

One bog to bring them all and in the sphagnum bind them

Happy international Tolkien Day

I am so grateful for all of you and the work you do. Not a visit to Scotland from California passes without time spent at Flanders Moss and each time I see you addressing the words of Galadriel, “The world is changed. I feel it in the water. I feel it in the earth. I smell it in the air. Much that once was is lost, for none now live who remember it.” You are reversing that change.
