Caroline’s back!

Flanders Moss NNR

Caroline the giant wicker curlew is back from her winter hibernation and is looking as beautiful as ever with a few additional fresh green willow highlights. She was created by the kids of Wallace High School and local artist, Kate Sankey as part of the Carse of Stirling Partnership Project. Find out more about the partnership here.

Caroline is hand-crafted from wicker which makes her very fragile and precious to all those involved in making her. She was brought in over winter to avoid any giant flying curlews during the bad weather but now she’s back and she makes a lovely addition to the landscape at Flanders Moss.

Keep an eye out for her when you’re visiting the reserve (although at over 6ft tall she is pretty hard to miss!).
